| STREAK
RETINOSCOPE MODEL:-
COI-5
|
| The
image of the filament is first directed upon a plain surface
about 1 meter distant; it is then brought sharply into focus
at this distance by means of the focussing ring (sleeve). If a
plain mirror effect is required, the sleeve is moved downwards
(towards the handle) until the streak is roughly 1 cm wide. If
a concave mirror effect is preferred, the sleeve is moved
upwards. Once this setting has been made, the focussing sleeve
need not moved during the rest of the refraction. |
| The
instrument, with the streak correctly adjusted, is held
comfortably in the hand and the patient's eye is visualised in
the ordinary way through the observing hole. The usual rocking
movement is employment, but always at right angles to the
direction of the streak. |
| The
axis of the streak is rotated by rolling the slit angle
adjuster around the stem of the instrument with the forefinger
or with the forefinger and thumb. The axis of the patient's
astigmatism may be read off on the trial frame, where it is
clearly shown by the prolonged streak of light. |
